Bookings for 2009 & 2010

Dear friends, the time of the year has come again... I will get myself busy for the rest of the year until early December 2009 for wedding day photography. There are a few more dates left in December 2009 calendar and those who wished to engage my services, please do so to avoid disappointment. My schedule as per this link.

Year 2010 will also be a busy year for me as I will be venturing into Singaporean market and at the same time, I will also be busy with my other company that deals with The One Academy students & Lim Kok Wing University College. Therefore, I would appreciate if you could book my services early.

Yes... I rejected as many as 30 over couples lately and I could hear their disappointed voices as some of the good dates has booked by my other clients. Some of them willing to offer a higher price for my service but I cannot do so as any jobs that I do are taken by me and I truly believe that my prospects chooses me because of my "masterpieces". That is why I cannot recommend them to other professional wedding photographers as I cannot guarantee that their work is up to par.

Therefore, book early ya!

NIKON Eyeware

ISPWP Summer Competition Results

William did it again! The total number of international wedding photography awards now stood at 14 awards! That's within 8 months since December 2008 to July 2009! Three (3) from WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) - USA and 11 awards from ISPWP (International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers) - USA.

The last ISPWP Spring competition, I stood at No. 6 for Top 20 winners and this time, it's No. 7! But what makes it different this time is that most of the professional wedding photographers are from the world's best and it was a crazy feat for maintaining my position as Top 10 Wedding Photographer in this organization!

If you were to go to ISPWP website, my entrees which won are from these categories:
1st Place - Engagement Portrait Category
2nd Place - Wedding Details Category
3rd Place - Humour Category
8th Place - Wedding Details Category

Well everyone, thank you so much for your tremendous support! God bless!

Azlan + Soon Wedding Day

There was once a bride-to-be called me whether I have taken any wedding reception in Banker's Club in Amoda Building. Of course I say "no". And I didn't able to close the deal as she's looking for wedding photographers who have taken in that particular place. Then recently I seen her wedding reception photo who was badly taken by a photographer who has been to that venue a few times. Yup! It was unfortunate.

Most of the images that I took are 1st time and everytime when I go back to that same venue again, I will capture a different style, different angle and making sure the image is not ordinary but extraordinary.

Here's some selected images for Azlan & Soon's wedding late last month. Yup, everyone loved the pics which was shown during the wedding reception slideshow. More images of the Banker's Club photo will be added soon.

WPPI 8" x 10" Print Competition

The above is Press Release & Ribbon Plaque sent to me from WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) - USA for winning two (2) Accolade of Excellence Awards (Honorable Mention) for 1st half of 2009. Last year December 2008, I won one (1) award and this makes it 3 awards from WPPI.

See Kian + Jia Yi Wedding Day

It was a big day on 4th July 2009 for See Kian & Jia Yi as I was appointed as their actual day wedding photographer since November 2008.

Yup, normally clients book me average of 6 months to 1 year in advance. Big dates like 3rd October 2009 or 6th December 2009 are always in high demand. Of course, these dates clients booked me very early too. My longest pre-booking record is 17 months (getting married on 16 Oct 2010 and booked me on 28 May 2009). Sounds interesting isn't it?

Anyways, here's some of my favourite works for "actual day" photography

Bali Island Pre-Wedding / Post-Wedding

Yin Keat + Chee Ling Pre-Wedding

It never cross my mind to be involved in pre-wedding locally. I have been promoting Pre-Wedding & Post-Wedding photoshoot in Bali Island, Indonesia recently with a total package less than RM 4.5k and this Pre-Wedding which I took for Yin Keat & Chee Ling was something different.

It was a beautiful day one morning when Chee Ling pop-me a message in Facebook telling me that she wasn't happy with the work done by a prominent bridal studio in Kuala Lumpur. She asked for assistance from me so that I could help her to re-shoot the whole "outdoor" scene. Chee Ling flew all the way from Hong Kong (she's based in HK) and we had one whole morning & afternoon to capture all the great photos she needed so that she can get her bridal studio album done on time for her actual wedding day (which will be coming soon in the next few months).

So... in the next couple of weeks, I will be offering Pre-Wedding / Post-Wedding packages locally and those who wished to engage me for overseas assignment, do write to me at fotomalaysia@gmail.com

There is one issue that I have to remind all of you is that I am an "actual day" wedding photographer but I do take Pre-Wed / Post-Wed photo as well. There is a new type of wedding photography which is called "Commercial Wedding" which I will be promoting heavily in the next couple months. So, stay tune for more of my work ya!

Wedding Photojournalism?

There is a brides-t0-be asking me this question: What is Wedding Photojournalism? This is what I got from WIKIPEDIA:-

A wedding photojournalist is a person who takes photographs during a wedding using an alternative approach where images are captured spontaneously to emphasize moments and emotion. Much like photojournalists for the media, wedding photojournalists present the story of the day through their photographs. A wedding photojournalist typically shoots images quickly using available light or on-camera flash rather than using traditional, formal posing techniques and studio lights. The phrase wedding photojournalist has been in vogue for at least 10 years and has now become almost synonymous with normal wedding photography.

So why hire a professional actual day wedding photographer? Think about it...

APPCO Mid Year Convention 2009

Photojournalism... I started out with The Volante, our local university newspaper as a student photographer back in 1995-1996 in South Dakota. I was the only Malaysian student photographer assigned for NCAA Div II sporting event at the campus dome (covering the track & field, American football & rugby).

After coming back to Malaysia, I was attached with a local college (INTI in Subang). That was in 1998 and I got myself in trouble with the college higher authority especially the Financial Controller and subsequently it involves the college President & Vice President. Yup! It was a long story but it all ends up with photography issues.

What I am showing below are images of the recent APPCO Mid Year Convention 2009. Can you image how dark was it inside the PICC (Putrajaya International Convention Centre)? Well, I was at this photography conference last two months when one of the self-proclaimed professional wedding photographer afraid of high ceiling halls such as those in mosque or ballrooms as he uses "bounce flash". He greatest "fear" is my greatest asset. Experience photographer will never be afraid of the lighting conditions in the hall or wherever the event will be held.

I started out as event, sports photographer & commercial photography. Now... I specializes in wedding photography so folks, I'm a wedding photographer! And THAT is my specialty!
